Flow and Quality Modeling

Within WP-3 a numerical model of the flow characteristics, the fine sediment transport and the fundamental water quality processes in the selected reservoirs is established based on hydrological and morphological data. Investigations will be made to determinate the necessary model complexity and model approaches in order to represent the relevant fine sediment processes in a physically correct aqnd plausible way. The aim is to build a generally available instrument for the system description of fine sediment and water quality processes in embedded water bodies.The innovative simulation approach is to be comprehensively validated within the scope of WP-4 on the basis of monitoring data (in situ, remote sensing data) for sites in the model regions and further developed with regard to physical processes and transferability.
